Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Treatment in Saskatoon
Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a common condition that affects the wrists and hands. It occurs when the median nerve, which runs from the forearm into the palm of the hand, becomes compressed or squeezed. This can cause pain, numbness, tingling and other symptoms in one or both hands and arms.
Many times, there is no single cause of carpal tunnel syndrome. It may stem from a combination of risk factors that contribute to the development of the condition.
How We Help
There are several techniques we use to address CTS issues, like
- Soft tissue techniques to the forearm, specifically to the pronator teres muscle
- Adjustments to the bones of the forearm and wrist
- Assessing and providing care in areas which affect the median nerve. This may include spinal adjustments to the cervical spine, as well as soft tissue techniques to the neck, shoulder, and/or along the path of the nerve.
Acupuncture may also offer benefits by helping relieve muscle tension, which can put pressure on the median nerve.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I wear a wrist brace for my CTS?
Some issues may complicate matters, such as spinal degeneration, scar tissue in the shoulder, neck, or forearm, as well as degenerative changes in the wrist. Typically, people begin to feel improvement within a few weeks, as long as there aren’t too many complicating factors.
I’ve previously had surgery for my CTS; can chiropractic still benefit me?
